Swim Lessons

JD, you love bath time. You love it so much that you come running when you hear us turn on the water. I've been on the lookout for fun things for you to do this summer. Swim lessons seemed perfect!!

You had you first lesson on Thursday.

All dressed and ready to go!

Since I had surgery, I could not participate with you. Daddy was excited to step in, though.

We got there early, so we had to wait for a little while. Here you are checking out the place...

You and Daddy had a great time!

You sang songs....

Waving "Hi!" to mommy!

Played with a basket of balls!
You were SO exited to see the toys!

Jumping in from the edge was your favorite!

All smiles!

You paddled around on a kickboard.

Splashed up and down!

Sat and played "Ring around the Rosie" on a big duckie!

Waving to mommy again!

"Swam" after the plastic balls....

Put them back in the basket...

Floated on your back...

And even went down a slide!

First day... SUCCESS! I think you are going to love swim lessons!

Outdoor fun!

Summertime is finally around the corner, and JD loves to play outside! He received a pretty awesome bubble machine for his birthday that we've put to good use. JD loves it!

Clapping for the bubbles!

This is what Buzz thinks of the bubble machine... ha!

Now, we just need to have a not so windy day... that way the bubbles dont blow away so fast!

JD also received an awesome playhouse from Grandmom and Grandpa for his first birthday. He absolutely loves to climb up the slide and run back and forth on the top. He's slowly figuring out how to slide down alone. When you ask JD "Do you want to go outside?" He runs to the backdoor and starts to pull on the handle. He heads straight for his playhouse!

Sweet boy!

I'm so glad that summer is almost here! We are going to have so much fun!

Surgery

So... Mommy had her appendix taken out on her birthday! Yuck! I started having horrible stomach pains that wouldn't go away. We finally woke you up, put you in the carseat, and headed to the ER.

Honey and Grand met us at the ER and took you back to their house. We are so lucky to have them so close! You thought it was party time! I think you finally crashed around midnight.

After a CAT scan, it was determined that I had appendicitis and I had to be admitted the hospital. Surgery was scheduled for the morning. I was shocked. I don't know why!

This wasn't the way I wanted to leave you overnight for the first time. At least you were in good hands.
Grandmom came from Houston and took you back to our home the next day so your routine wouldnt be too messed up. You were in heaven. Both sets of grandparents in two days! Can you say spoiled?!
Anyway... all went well... and my appendix is gone. Who needs one anyway, right?!
I just HAVE to share this picture though. This was what happened when I came home and you woke up from your nap and saw me again!

LOVE!

Mother's Day!

Mother's Day 2012

My beautiful boy!
So I'm having a hard time believing that a year has passed. We celebrated Mother's Day this year at Honey and Grands with a Mother's Day lunch.

We did the same thing last year....

.... my how you've changed!

I fall in love with you more and more each day. I'm so glad I'm your mommy!

Look what JD can do!

So over the past two weeks or so, JD has just blossomed into a full blown toddler.

All of the sudden, he is able to do SO many things. I'm not sure if this has to do with getting tubes in his ears so he can hear better, or if it's just an age thing, but I am having SO much fun watching him learn!

I've caught a few on video.

JD says "Baby"

My dancer. Such a ham!

Signing phone and saying "Ha-O!"

Pat-a-Cake

He also knows how to say "dog" (which is pronounces dawwwww), Uh oh, up, and I'm sure much more that I don't understand yet!

He will go to the kitchen if I ask him if he is hungry. If I say, "Do you want to go on a walk" he will run to the stroller. So cute and fun to watch him finally understand and interact with me!

He's such a big boy and growing up so quick! I love this age!

A Party with Friends!

Call me crazy, but I decided to make your birth"day" into a birth"weekend".

Since your exact birthday fell nicely on a Saturday, we had our family party then... and there was no way to combine friends and family this year. We have way too big of a family... and lots of friends with little ones. So... the next day (Sunday) was your friends birthday party!

I was pretty nervous that the whole weekend would be too much on you, but you did great! You are such an easy going kid. My only complaint was that your sleep habits were horrible on Sunday. You fought sleep like crazy! More to come on that later.

Well anyway, Sunday came and we still had decorations up from your Saturday party. The balloons from yesterday deflated, so I went to the store to pick up your cupcakes and get more balloons. Unfortunately there was a helium shortage (weird!) and everywhere was either out of helium or charging an arm and a leg for a single balloon. So, we went with no balloons this party.

You took a morning nap and played during the afternoon. Your party was from 3-5 pm, which I thought was perfect because it allowed people to have time to go to church, and it was also after your second nap. Well... that second nap didnt happen. I tried so hard. You just wouldn't sleep. You cried, played, and jumped in your crib for basically 2 hours. We had to get ready for your party, so I just left you in there! I kept going in and trying to rock you. Nothing worked. I felt so frustrated because I really wanted you to be rested for your party. Oh well!

Finally, you won and I went in to get you dressed for the party. I could tell that you were tired, but it was too late! You seemed to perk up and enjoy yourself though.

Friends began showing up and we had a great time! Everyone had baseball themed snacks (mini pigs in a blanket, popcorn, candy, nachos, lemonade, pizza pockets) and all the babies played with your toys. I didn't get as many pictures today because I had a hard time hosting a party and remembering to take pics.... yesterday Grandmom helped!

Many kids went and jumped in the bounce house as well. That was money well spent! It was a lot of fun!

Finally came time to eat cake and open presents. Again, you werent too thrilled with eating the cake... you more just "smashed" it. You made such a big mess I had to put you in the tub!

You enjoyed people singing to you!

YAY! Everyone clapped for you, so you had to clap too!

Our friends were SO generous and you received SO many presents. You are one blessed boy!

Finally, party time was over... and you CRASHED! You feel asleep in my arms drinking your bottle... and that almost never happens anymore. I just took the time to enjoy my sweet ONE YEAR old boy relaxing in my arms.

I hope you had as much fun this weekend as I did! I know that you were tired and very over stimulated, but you definitely hung in there and had a great time! For as tired and you were, you never threw one fit. You smiled, laughed, and played nicely the whole time. I am the luckiest momma in the world. I love you JD!
